Many of us are back on track with nutrition after a summer of maybe too much indulging. Don’t let Thanksgiving set you back. Here are 3 quick tips on how to feel good this weekend and focus on your family and friends, not guilt come Monday morning.
The food itself can be very nutritious when done right! Use these tips to help make healthy decisions.
- Don’t deprive yourself during the day. Wake up and have a good breakfast and a hearty lunch. You don’t want to go to Thanksgiving dinner starving because chances are you will over eat.
- Stick to the basics. Find the turkey (or other protein source) and load your plate with lots of colorful vegetables first! Then add the extra’s in moderation; stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce and mashed potatoes.
- After you eat don’t run back for seconds right away. Engage in conversation and wait a bit, you’re probably not still hungry. Chances are that second plate is going to have you feeling tired, over-full and maybe a little guilty.
